COMMUNITY MTB RIDE

Crested Butte | Alcohol Free Gunnison Valley

OVERVIEW

We're heading to Crested Butte for one of the most iconic mellow laps on the Western Slope! The Lupine Loop rolls right out of town through sagebrush meadows, wildflower fields, and aspen groves with stunning views of the Slate River Valley and Mount Crested Butte.

This is a self-guided group ride organized through our partnership with Clear Lines and CB State of Mind. No labels, no recovery identity required.

Just a great trail, good people, and zero bar tab at the tailgate.

Come as you are!

MEETUP LOCATION

Map Link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/UeKmR2zA3Uh265uF9

WHO IT'S FOR

This ride is for anyone who wants a substance free outdoor experience with good people!

If you have been looking for sober events in Colorado, a sober active community on the Western Slope, or just wondering how to find alcohol free things to do in Crested Butte or Gunnison, this is your ride. Great for people in recovery, anyone building a sober curious lifestyle, visitors exploring the Gunnison Valley, and locals who want a crew that skips the tailgate beers! The Lupine Loop is an intermediate trail but the group can accommodate different paces and a shorter route is always an option.

No experience necessary. Just show up!

WHAT TO BRING

Bike: A trail worthy mountain bike in good working order. This is a group ride, not a guided service, so please do a quick check of your brakes and tires before you arrive.

Helmet: Required. No exceptions.

Water: At least 2 liters. Crested Butte sits at nearly 9,000 ft. Hydrate before you arrive and carry more than you think you need.

Food: Trail snacks for the ride (bars, fruit, nuts). Plan to grab food in town after.

Layers: June mornings in CB can be in the low to mid 40s. Bring a packable jacket or midlayer you can shed once moving.

Sun protection: Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat or helmet visor. UV is intense at this elevation.

Personal essentials: Phone with trail map downloaded (Trailforks or MTB Project recommended), ID, and some cash or card if you plan to eat in town after.

Optional: Small hydration pack, camera (wildflowers are exceptional in June).

SCHOLARSHIP INFO

At Sober Outdoors, we believe access to community and the outdoors should never be limited by financial barriers. Our scholarship program exists to ensure that anyone who wants to attend an event can do so, regardless of current financial circumstances.

Scholarships help cover event fees, premium experiences, and in some cases gear support. These funds are made possible by community donations and partners who believe in expanding access to substance-free spaces.

If cost is a barrier, you can request scholarship consideration during registration or by reaching out through the contact button below. Applications are simple, confidential, and reviewed with care. We do not require lengthy explanations — just honest communication.

If you are in a position to give, your donation directly supports someone else's access to recovery-forward community and outdoor experiences. When you contribute, you are helping build a more inclusive sober ecosystem.

Access matters. Community should not be a luxury.

LIABILITY WAIVER

Sober Outdoors events take place in outdoor environments that carry inherent risks, including uneven terrain, changing weather, wildlife exposure, and physical exertion. To ensure transparency and shared responsibility, all participants are required to review and agree to our liability waiver prior to attending events.

The waiver outlines the nature of outdoor risks, participant responsibilities, and safety expectations. It also confirms that participants are attending voluntarily and understand that Sober Outdoors is a community-driven nonprofit organization facilitating substance-free experiences.

Completing the waiver is required before participating in any event. You will receive instructions during registration or in your confirmation email. If you have questions about the waiver, safety practices, or expectations, please contact us directly through the button below.

Our goal is to create experiences that are welcoming, well-organized, and responsibly led. Clear agreements help protect the community and allow us to continue hosting safe, sustainable events.
